Role debut as Alice Ford in “Falstaff” at Staatsoper Berlin

Gabriela Scherer makes her role debut as Alice Ford in Falstaff at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. Conducted by Giuseppe Mentuccia, she joins a distinguished cast including Michael Volle in the title role, Andrè Schuen as Ford, Anna Kissjudit as Mrs. Quickly, Jonah Hoskins as Fenton, Rosalia Cid as Nannetta, Rebecka Wallroth as Mrs. Meg Page, Jürgen Sacher as Dr. Cajus, Karl-Michael Ebner as Bardolfo, and Friedrich Hamel as Pistola. The production is by Mario Martone, with performances running from November 20 to December 7.

Gabriela returns to Falstaff after having sung Meg Page early in her career at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, when she still performed as a mezzo-soprano. This marks her fifth role at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, following acclaimed appearances as the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos, Elisabetta in Don Carlo, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and most recently Pamina in Die Zauberflöte.

Bayreuth: Open-Air Concerts 2025 & “Rienzi” in 2026

Before returning to the role of Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, Gabriela Scherer will appear in two open-air concerts at the Bayreuth Festival 2025 on July 24 and 28. With the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra under the baton of Pablo Heras-Casado, she will perform Lady Macbeth’s Sleepwalking Scene from Macbeth by Verdi, Senta’s “Einsam in trüben Tagen” from Lohengrin, and the final section of Salome’s closing monologue (Schlussgesang). Also performing are baritone Michael Kupfer-Radecky and bass Vitalij Kowaljow, with journalist Axel Brüggemann guiding the audience through the evening.

Gabriela Scherer returns to Bayreuth as Gutrune in “Götterdämmerung”

Following her acclaimed debut at the Bayreuth Festival last year - praised as “triumphant” (Nordbayerischer Kurier), “superbly cast” (Das Opernglas), and “striking” (Wanderer) - Gabriela Scherer reprises the role of Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, in Valentin Schwarz’s Netflix-inspired production, conducted by Simone Young.

Senta in Luxembourg and Brussels

Following acclaimed performances at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and Deutsche Oper Berlin earlier this season, Gabriela Scherer returns to the role of Senta in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer. She joins the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra for two concert performances on May 13 and 15, conducted by Tarmo Peltokoski.
