Gabriela Scherer returns to the Deutsche Oper Berlin to sing her acclaimed Senta in Der fliegende Holländer for the first time at this theater.
Christian Spuck’s production will be performed three times in February, featuring Derek Welton in the title role, Patrick Guetti as Daland, Attilio Glaser as Erik, Stephanie Wake-Edwards as Mary, and Chance Jonas-O’Toole as the Steuermann. John Fiore conducts the Orchestra and Choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Performances take place on February 16, 20, and 25.
Gabriela Scherer made her house debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2023, in a new production of Strauss’s Arabella, singing the title role. After this Holländer in Berlin, she will bring her Senta to Düsseldorf again, followed by concert performances in Luxembourg and Brussels.

Before returning to the role of Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, Gabriela Scherer will appear in two open-air concerts at the Bayreuth Festival 2025 on July 24 and 28. With the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra under the baton of Pablo Heras-Casado, she will perform Lady Macbeth’s Sleepwalking Scene from Macbeth by Verdi, Senta’s “Einsam in trüben Tagen” from Lohengrin, and the final section of Salome’s closing monologue (Schlussgesang). Also performing are baritone Michael Kupfer-Radecky and bass Vitalij Kowaljow, with journalist Axel Brüggemann guiding the audience through the evening.
Following her acclaimed debut at the Bayreuth Festival last year - praised as “triumphant” (Nordbayerischer Kurier), “superbly cast” (Das Opernglas), and “striking” (Wanderer) - Gabriela Scherer reprises the role of Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, in Valentin Schwarz’s Netflix-inspired production, conducted by Simone Young.
Following acclaimed performances at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and Deutsche Oper Berlin earlier this season, Gabriela Scherer returns to the role of Senta in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer. She joins the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra for two concert performances on May 13 and 15, conducted by Tarmo Peltokoski.
