Gabriela Scherer makes Teatro Real debut

On March 29, Gabriela Scherer will make her house debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid. Performing alongside Michael Volle, she will sing excerpts from Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer and Tannhäuser, as well as Strauss’s Arabella.

The program will include the overture from Der fliegende Holländer, Holländer’s monologue “Die Frist ist um”, and the duet “Wie aus der Ferne längst vergangner Zeiten”. From Tannhäuser, the prelude to Act III will be performed, followed by “Wohl wusst’ ich hier sie im Gebet zu finden”, Elisabeth’s prayer “Allmächt’ge Jungfrau”, and Wolfram’s iconic “O du mein holder Abendstern”.

The evening will conclude with “Sie gibt mir keinen Blick”, “Das war sehr gut, Mandryka”, and “Dann aber, wie ich Sie gespürt hab hier im Finstern” from Arabella.

Gustavo Gimeno will conduct the Orquesta Titular del Teatro Real.
